About DaFontFonts

DaFontFonts exists because of a specific, common, expensive mistake: a designer downloads a "free" font, uses it in client work or on a product, and later discovers the licence was personal-use-only. On most free-font sites the licence is an unverified label, and the real terms live inside a readme in a zip file.

So we inverted the model. DaFontFonts lists 15,598 fonts across 4,562 families, and every single one carries a verified open licence: the SIL Open Font License, Apache 2.0, the Ubuntu Font Licence, MIT, or CC0. If a font's licence cannot be verified from an authoritative source, it does not enter the catalog. No exceptions, which is also why you will not find every novelty font here.

What that buys you

  • Client work, logos, merchandise, print-on-demand, and app embedding are safe by default.
  • The licence and its plain-language permissions appear on every font page, before the download button.
  • Previews are real, live text rendered in the actual font, not images.

Where the fonts come from

The catalog is built from the Google Fonts open-source collection and the Fontsource registry, with licence metadata taken from their authoritative repositories. Full details, including per-source licence breakdowns, are on the attribution page.

DaFontFonts is an independent project. It is not affiliated with Google, with any foundry, or with any other font website. Fonts remain the work and property of their designers, distributed under their own open licences.
