About Bitcount

Bitcount is a display typeface designed by Petr van Blokland, published as an open-source font in 2025. It carries an authentic pixel grid and serious headline presence, which shapes where it works best. The family ships 9 styles and is available as a variable font, so any weight in between is available too.

Language support extends beyond basic Latin to latin-ext. Because Bitcount is licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, you can use it in commercial work without buying anything or crediting anyone in the design itself.

The SIL Open Font License is the most common open font licence. It permits use in any commercial or personal project, print, logos, websites, apps, products for sale, and allows modification and redistribution. The only real restrictions: you may not sell the font files by themselves, and if you modify the font you must rename it (if it uses a Reserved Font Name) and keep it under the OFL.
