Gothic versus old english, strictly speaking

Type historians distinguish fraktur from textura, the denser blackletter of Gutenberg's Bible and the style most old english fonts imitate. Unicode only encodes fraktur, so every gothic text generator on the internet, this one included, actually produces fraktur. At bio sizes nobody will call you on it. Fraktur pastes into Instagram and TikTok bios, Discord usernames and messages, X display names, Twitch, and YouTube comments. It is a staple of metal and alt accounts, and the bold fraktur variant holds up better at small phone sizes, where regular fraktur's thin strokes can blur. Support is broad but not perfect: a handful of fraktur letters were encoded earlier than the rest as standalone math symbols, so on rare devices one letter may render in a slightly different style.
