How it works

  1. 01 Type your message, status, or name in the box.
  2. 02 Pick a style. For old-phone audiences, fullwidth and small caps are safest.
  3. 03 Copy it and paste it into WhatsApp: messages, status, About, or a group subject.

WhatsApp's built-in formatting (worth knowing first)

WhatsApp is unusual: it has real native text formatting. Wrap a word in asterisks for bold, underscores for italic, tildes for strikethrough, and three backticks for monospace, and WhatsApp renders it properly inside messages. Newer versions also support bulleted lists, numbered lists, and block quotes with similar markup. Native formatting is searchable and reads correctly for screen readers, so for plain emphasis in chats it beats Unicode. Its limit: it only works inside messages. Your profile name, status text, and group subjects ignore the markup, and there is no native cursive or gothic at all.

Where Unicode styles fill the gap

That is what this generator is for. Unicode styles work in your profile name, your About line, status updates, group subjects, and inside messages too. Cursive script names, small-caps group titles, and decorated status lines all travel as ordinary characters, so the person on the other end sees them without installing anything. Rendering depends on their device: current iPhones and Androids show all of these styles, while very old Android phones can show boxes for the rarer blocks. Fullwidth, small caps, and the standard bold and italic sets are the safest for mixed audiences, which matters in family group chats full of older phones.

For stickers, invitations, and business graphics

Unicode only styles text fields. If you are making WhatsApp stickers, business catalog images, or party invitations to share in a group, you need real fonts. Everything on DaFontFonts is verified free for commercial use, so a WhatsApp Business catalog or a printed invitation is covered. Browse cursive fonts for elegant script or wedding fonts for invitation styles.

Questions

Why doesn't *bold* formatting work in my WhatsApp status or name?

The asterisk and underscore markup only works inside messages. Status text, profile names, and group subjects ignore it. Unicode styles from this generator work in all of those fields.

Why does styled text show as squares on my relative's phone?

Their device's system fonts do not include those Unicode characters, which is common on older Android phones. Fullwidth, small caps, and basic bold or italic have the broadest support.

Can I use these fonts in a WhatsApp group name?

Yes, group subjects accept Unicode. Keep it short: the subject field has a character limit and decorated styles use more characters than they appear to.

Is Unicode text safe to send, or can it get me flagged?

Ordinary styled text is fine. The one style to use sparingly is heavy zalgo-type stacking, which some devices render poorly. WhatsApp does not penalize styled characters in normal use.
