Small Caps Text Generator
Type normally and get your lowercase letters replaced with miniature capitals. These small caps are individual Unicode characters, so the effect holds when you copy the text into Instagram bios, Discord names, gamer tags, and anywhere else plain text goes.
Every style below rewrites as you type. Tap Copy to take one.
How it works
- 01 Type your text in normal upper and lower case.
- 02 Preview the small caps output, plus tiny and spaced variants.
- 03 Copy the version you want and paste it into your profile or chat.
Borrowed from linguistics
Unicode never set out to offer decorative small caps. The characters this tool uses come mostly from the Phonetic Extensions and IPA blocks, where linguists use small capital letters as distinct phonetic symbols: a small capital R, for instance, transcribes the French uvular r. Because those symbols happen to cover nearly the whole Latin alphabet, they double as a small caps display set. The tool leaves your real capitals alone and maps lowercase letters to their small capital twins, producing the classic engraved, all-caps-but-quieter look.
The gaps
Coverage is close to complete but not perfect. A couple of letters have awkward stories, most notably x, which had no dedicated small capital in Unicode for years, so tools substitute the regular x or a lookalike. Depending on your device font, one or two letters may also sit at a slightly different height than their neighbors. It is the price of borrowing an alphabet that was built for phonetics rather than typography.
Where small caps shine
Small caps read as understated and deliberate, which makes them a favorite for Discord server categories and channel names, gamer tags, Instagram name fields, X display names, and Twitch panel headings. They are among the most widely supported stylized alphabets, since phonetic characters have been in Unicode for decades, and they stay legible at small sizes where fraktur or script fall apart. For an even smaller look, the small text generator adds superscript and subscript styles.
In real typography, small caps are a craft feature: professional fonts include purpose-drawn small capitals for headings, invitations, and stationery. If that is what you are after, browse our wedding fonts, all verified free for commercial use.

Questions
Do small caps work in Discord server and channel names?
Yes, Discord is where small caps are most popular. Channel names, categories, nicknames, and messages all render them cleanly. They also work in Instagram and TikTok bios and most display name fields.
Why do small caps display correctly on every device?
Because they are longstanding Unicode characters from the phonetic alphabet, present in system fonts for decades. Any app that renders text renders them, with no formatting or font support required.
Why does one letter look slightly off in my small caps text?
The set is borrowed from phonetics, and a few letters (x is the usual culprit) lacked a true small capital for years, so substitutes fill the gap. Some device fonts also draw one or two letters at a slightly different height.
What happens to letters I type in capitals?
They stay full-size capitals. Only lowercase letters are converted, which mirrors how real small caps typography works: big capitals for initials, small capitals for the rest.
