About Bauhaus

The Bauhaus fonts take their name and shapes from the 1920s German design school, especially Herbert Bayer's experimental universal alphabet built from circles and straight lines. ITC Bauhaus, designed by Ed Benguiat and Victor Caruso in 1975, turned those ideas into a full family with open, rounded letters and even strokes.

Bauhaus 93, a heavy display cut by URW, is the version many people know from Microsoft software. Both have a playful, retro-modern look that instantly signals the 1970s and 80s, and they are popular for posters, music and record sleeves, toy and game branding, and anything that wants a bold geometric personality.
