About Edwardian Script

ITC Edwardian Script was designed by Ed Benguiat and released by ITC in 1994. Microsoft notes that, unlike calligraphic scripts written with a flat-tipped pen, it was inspired by a flexible steel-point pen, where pressure rather than nib angle creates the thick and thin strokes. The result is a flowing, formal hand with delicate hairlines and graceful capitals.

Because it ships with Microsoft Office, Edwardian Script is one of the most used wedding fonts in the world, showing up on invitations, place cards, certificates and menus. It looks best at larger sizes with generous spacing; avoid setting long passages or all capitals.

Who designed Edwardian Script?

Ed Benguiat designed ITC Edwardian Script, released by ITC in 1994.

Is Edwardian Script good for wedding invitations?

Yes. Its formal, flowing letters are a classic choice for names and headings. Pair it with a simple serif for the details so the text stays readable.

Should I type Edwardian Script in all capitals?

No. Script capitals are ornate and become hard to read when set together. Use capitals only at the start of words.
